Assemble, a community space for arts and technology non-profit in the Garfield neighborhood, is excited to announce the sixth annual MakerDate, a maker-focused fundraising event that puts a creative spin on a date auction. This one-of-a-kind event will happen at Ace Hotel Pittsburgh on Friday, September 14 from 6 to 10pm.
“It’s like a playdate but a MakerDate for grown-ups!” — Nina Barbuto, Assemble’s Director.
Guests bid to win time with an array of 30 local experts from welders, computer programmers, designers, and more. The evening consists of a very lively “live auction” as well as a silent auction of dates that range from 3-4 hr experiences in artists’ studios and other creative spaces. The dates will take place after the event at a time and place determined by the maker and winning bidder.
Take a chance at the raffle with donated museum passes, gift certificates to restaurants, discounts to spas, and maker kits. Assemble’s MakerDate auction furthers Assemble’s mission by connecting people, building confidence through making, and raises funds to support all their educational programing in their space at 4824 Penn Ave.
Since 2011, Assemble provides a wide variety of learning and creative experiences — from hyper-local art shows to youth coding parties. Our programs focus on a holistic view of science, technology, engineering, art, and math or STEAM by putting the learning in the hands of the learner. Assemble’s mission is to build confidence through making.
MakerDate will feature music by Jacquea Mae, dancing with DJ Mary Mack, and food and drinks by the Ace Hotel. Dave Manseuto will be MakerDate’s MC, for the fourth year! Assemble’s Director, Nina Barbuto, encourages everyone to “Meet makers of our community, make new friends, and learn new things while you are supporting Assemble!”
This exciting event is made possible through the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Calgon Carbon, and many more incredible organizations across Pittsburgh.
